Ubis 13 Hot End Best Practices

For a full guide on best practices with your Ubis 13, download the pdf at the bottom of this article.

Aside from setting your retraction (0.3-0.5mm) and keeping the fan running, there are a few other things that you can do to optimize the performance of your Ubis 13 Hot End.

  1. Download the Ubis 13 Cura Profile for Printrbot approved settings.
  2. Make sure that your fan shroud is placed just above the heat block on the heat sink.  Click here to download a printable file for the updated fan shroud.
  3. Set the proper tension of your extruder spring.
  4. Keep your filament dry by storing it in a container with desiccant.

On the Play the Ubis13 fan is integrated into the larger extruder shroud assembly.

    Hello,

Are there any changes to these best practices for using the Ubis 13S? The website says no fan required, but the Ubis 13S manual says to put a fan over the fin structure leading up to the hot end.

While the Ubis 13 does require the dedicated fan, the 13S does not require the dedicated fan.

The other suggestions for best practices still apply.
